History

The Christ Child Society of El Paso, Texas was first established in 1922, organized and re-established in 1957 and was chartered in 1959.  The early Chapter was started by Emma Lorig Campbell, who had moved to El Paso in 1898.  "Aunt Emma" as she was called was frail in body but possessed an indomitable strength of spirit.  Her initial group numbered 5 but at the time of her death 12 years later numbered 300, including a group in the lower valley and a Mexican auxiliary.  After her death the group became inactive.  In 1957 Betsy Graham, at the suggestion of Clara Reed, reactivated the Chapter.  Many of these new members were the daughters and granddaughters of the founding members.  The Chapter is now known as the Katherine Haninger Chapter in El Paso, Texas.
