History

The Christ Child Society Chapter of Detroit, Michigan was founded and chartered in 1912 and was incorporated in 1937.  The Chapter was founded by Mary Catherine Brady.  The Chapter history states that Mary Catherine suffered a debilitating accident around the turn of the 20th century and that during a trip to Washington, DC she met Mary Virginia Merrick and was so impressed with the work of the Society and its work with the poor that she asked for approval to begin a Chapter in Detroit.  After receiving approval she gathered together a group of friends and the Detroit Chapter was formed.
