Marybeth Baucco NCCS President 2016-2018Welcome!

The National Christ Child Society was founded almost 130 years ago in Washington, DC, by Mary Virginia Merrick. Today we have over 6000 members in 44 chapters in 20 states and we are continually looking to grow our membership and expand our reach!

Our chapters make a difference in the lives of the children they serve through personal service that includes tutoring, reading enrichment programs, life skills programs for pre-teen and teenage children, and parenting classes and by meeting basic needs through supplying school uniforms and supplies, shoes, and winter coats and hats. Each chapter works to identify and meet the particular needs of their community.  The words of our founder, Mary Virginia Merrick, “Nothing is ever too much to do for a child” guides our organization daily as we fulfill our mission to serve the children who need us most.

The current National board consists of 12 members who not only dedicate their time and talent to their own chapters, but who are willing to work together to help all chapters project a unified image, learn from each other and share resources and information. The board has developed a new Strategic Plan which will guide us as we begin our two-year journey, serving our chapters and in turn the needy children they serve. The 2016-2018 National Board of Directors is ready to work: to be a bridge to overcome any obstacles that arise; to be a strong support system for our existing chapters; to be a guiding light to form new chapters; and to become great storytellers and continue to tell our wonderful story to ensure that our organization is around for another 130 years and beyond!

This is an especially exciting time for our organization since our founder, Mary Virginia Merrick, is on the path to sainthood. Since Cardinal Wuerl of the Washington Archdiocese officially opened the Cause in 2011, the review of her voluminous writings is nearly complete.  With proper funding for a more extensive review by Vatican experts, the Cause will be able to enter the Roman phase, which upon completion will result in MVM being designated as Venerable.  After that, verification of miracles could result in her beatification and finally canonization.

As you peruse our website, keep in mind that we would love to welcome you to join in our commitment to better the lives of children either by joining an existing chapter, starting a chapter, or simply, by keeping the Christ Child Society and Mary Virginia Merrick in your prayers.

In the Name of the Christ Child,
