W hite 3 ply yarn

Size D crochet hook

1/4” white satin ribbon


Ch 6, join with sl st in form ring.

Rnd 1:  Ch 3, 17 dc in ring, join with sl st n top of ch 3. (18 dc)

Rnd 2:  Ch 3, skip l st dc, sc in next dc, ( ch 3, skip next dc , sc in next dc) repeat around, join in bottom of ch 3.  (9 ch 3 loops)

Rnd 3:  Sl st in first ch 3 loop, ch 3, 2 dc in loop, (ch 2, 3 dc in next ch 3 loop) repeat around chain 2, join with sl st in top of ch 3. (9 3 dc groups)

Row 1: Ch 3, dc in each dc and 2 dc in each ch 3 loop, leaving last two spaces and 1 (3 dc group) open.

Ch 3, turn.  (38)

For Crown:

Row 2: (Wrong side and will form ridge for the crown) Dc in post of each dc.  Ch 3, turn. (38)

Row 3.  Dc in each dc and in top of ch 3, ch 3, turn. (38)

Row 4:  Dc in next 3 dc, (ch 2, skip 2, dc in next 3) repeat around ending with last dc in top of ch 3. Ch 3, turn. (8 3 dc groups)

Row 5:  Dc in each dc and 2 dc in each chain 2 loop, dc in top of ch 3, ch 3 turn. Row 6-7:  Repeat Rows 4-5. Do not fasten off. Slip stitch into side dc space. Ch 3 and work neck band (right side facing).

NOTE: For larger hats follow pattern and add a few extra rows before starting neck band.

Neck Band and Brim:

Row 1: (Eyelet row)  Dc in same space, *ch l, 2 dc in side st of dc row* repeat from * to * across bottom ending with l dc in top of ch 3. Now sl st in side of dc just made and in 1st dc along front of hat, *ch 3, skip next st, sc in next * repeat from *to* across. Fasten off. Thread ribbon through eyelet row.

Size  7  needles,  cast on  30 st

R 1-6,  K till 3 ridges form, front & back,(6 rows)

R 7-10,  K3 P3, repeat till end, (4 rows)

R 11-14,  P3 3K, repeat till end, (4 ws)

R 15-20,  K till 3 ridges form, front & back, (6 rows)

R 21,  K to end

R 22,  P 2 tog,  P 2, repeat till end of row

R 23,  K to end

R 23,  P 2 tog,  P 2, repeat to last 3 st P to end

R 25,  K to end

Thread last 17 st onto needle, threaded with yarn, gather together, pulling into circle.  Sew seam.  Thread ¼ in ribbon around neckline.
