K3 rows making 3 ridges, cast off.

Continue till blanket measures 15 inches.

 


“Plaid” Blanket

Cast on 49 stitches using size 7 needles

K first 6 rows                                                                                                                       

Row 7:  K49

Row 8:  K3 P3 K7 P3 K7 P3 K7 P3 K7 P3 K3                                                                

Repeat rows 7 & 8 till 5 ridges, then

K 49 till end

K 3 P 43 K 3

Repeat last 2 rows

Repeat above pattern 3 more times, then

Repeat rows 7 & 8 till 5 ridges, then

K last 6 rows, cast off.

Adjust needle size depending how loose you knit. Goal is a15in square, or as close as you are able makes it.

1 oz. Sport or Worsted weight yarn (white) Size "H" crochet hook

Finished size: Approximately 15" by 15"

DIRECTIONS:  Ch 53.

Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, and in each ch across. Ch 3; turn.

Row 2: Dc in each st across. Ch 3; turn.

Row 3: *Ch 1; skip 1 st; dc in next st. Repeat from * across, ending with a dc in the top of the ch-3. Ch3, turn.

Rows 4 & 5: Repeat row 2.

Row 6: Repeat row 3.

Repeat rows 4-6 five times more (21 rows).

Repeat row 2 twice more (23 rows total).

Edge Row 1: Ch1; sc down the left edge of the afghan (46 sts). 2 sc in corner. Sc along bottom edge. 2 sc in corner. Sc along right edge (46 sts). Sc along top. Sl st in corner sc

.Edge Row 2: Ch 3. *Skip 1 st; hdc in next st; ch 1. Repeat from * around. Corners: (Hdc, ch1) twice in both corner sts. End with a sl st in the 2nd ch of the beginning ch3.

Edge Row 3: *Sc in the next ch-1 space; ch 3. Repeat from * around all 4 sides. End with a sl st in the top of the 1st sc. Finish off.

Preemie Extra Small 10 by 10 inches to 12 by 12 inches Preemie Small 14 by 14 inches to 18 by 18 inches

Preemie Medium 20 by 20 inches to 22 by 22 inches

Preemie Large 22 by 22 inches to 24 by 24 inches

Full-Term 26 by 26 inches to 28 by 28 inches


Preemie Blanket and Quilt Guidelines


Blankets can be knitted, crocheted, quilted, or sewn.

Sewn blankests are often lined with cotton or soft flannel.
